Overview

Set off from Paris for a full‑day guided excursion to the D‑Day Beaches of Normandy and explore the key sites that shaped one of the most decisive moments of World War II.

On June 6, 1944—D‑Day—the Allies launched the largest military operation in history, opening a new European front against the Third Reich. More than 150,000 soldiers from the United States, Britain, Canada, and other Allied nations landed by sea and air along the Normandy coastline, including Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Juno Beach, and the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc. This monumental operation marked the beginning of the Battle of Normandy and ultimately paved the way for the end of the war.

Depart from central Paris at 7 a.m. aboard a comfortable air‑conditioned coach and enjoy the scenic drive through the Normandy countryside. Your first stop is the heroic Pointe du Hoc\*, where American Rangers scaled steep cliffs under heavy fire. Standing atop these dramatic heights, you’ll gain a powerful understanding of the site’s strategic importance and the courage of the soldiers who fought there.

Continue to Omaha Beach, one of the most heavily fortified German positions on the coast and the site of intense fighting on June 6. Your guide will explain the crucial role played by American forces during the landings.

Next, visit the St. Laurent American War Cemetery in Colleville‑sur‑Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach. This 70‑hectare memorial site contains 9,387 perfectly aligned white marble headstones, a chapel, a memorial, and the Garden of the Missing. It honors the American soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Normandy and is one of 25 permanent U.S. military cemeteries abroad.

Your journey continues with a stop in Arromanches, famous for its artificial harbor built as part of the D‑Day landings. Capable of unloading 9,000 tons of supplies on D‑Day alone, the harbor played a vital logistical role. Today, the remains of the reinforced concrete “Phoenix” caissons are still visible offshore. You’ll have free time here to relax and enjoy lunch.

The final stop of the day is near Juno Beach, one of the main landing sites for Canadian forces on June 6, 1944, along with its nearby cemetery.

Return to Paris is scheduled for around 8 p.m.
